After three weeks of war crimes, massacres and destruction Israel calls for a ceasefire? But after what and for how long?

The Israeli economic blockake still stands and this is what caused the rocket attacks from the beginning. Israel holds an iron grip on Gaza’s throat and continues to effectively choke them to death by stopping food (80% comes from charity aid) and water (there is a serious water shortage in Gaza because the Israelis have seriously rationed it), and even medicine-inflow was slowed to a trickle. Basically, Gaza was dying a slow and horrible death. Hamas, feeling the people’s pain did what they believed was the one thing they could do and that was to attack Israel with rockets and this was used as an excuse by the Israelis to kill the Palestinians.

Israel is guilty of the most heinous of crimes. They have killed a great many innocent men, women and children - over 1000 people so far, the grand majority poor civilians; they have destroyed homes and whole buildings leaving over 20,000 people homeless and out in the cold; they have attacked in the middle of civilian areas and they have destroyed important infrastructures like schools, police stations, communication centres, food and medicine warehouses; They stopped any aid or food entering for a long time so many ill people died; they have attacked UN personnel and UN safehouses and food and medicine stores; They have attacked and imprisoned news reporters; they have used chemical weapons in built-up civilian areas, namely the burn-to-the-bone White Phosphorous; They forced civilians into buildings and destroyed the building with all the people inside it - a war crime; Basically, they have massacred Gaza, and no-one stood up to them and as expected, America stood by them! And yet, they never managed to stop the rocket fire from Hamas?

They sure achieved their “goals” - they murdered a great number of innocent Palestinians. What is this “even more” Olmert speaks of? Well, this “ceasefire” is actually an occupation because Israeli troops are to remain stationed inside Gaza. “If militant rocket fire into Israel continued, Israel would respond with force, the Israeli leader added” - knowing full-well that Palestinians would not stand for a single Israeli in Gaza occupying their land and in fact they would be seeking revenge by trying to take out the soldiers.

This is a psuedo-ceasefire.
