Grammar: acronym;(SAW), also found in the form of (SAWA) or (SAWAW) is an acronym used after the name of Prophet Muhammed (SAW) specifically, and it is a form of showing respect. These variations of the acronym are a collection of phrases built on the same basic phrase but with additions as it gets longer.
(SAW) - Sallalahu Alaihi Wa-salam - Allah's praise and peace be upon him.
(SAWA) - Sallalahu Alaihi Wa-ala Alihi - Allah's praise be upon him and his kinfolk.
(SAWAS) - Sallalahu Alaihi Wa-ala Alihi wa Salam - Allah's praise and peace be upon him and his kinfolk.The basis for this respectful phrase is found in the Quran.
إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا
'Allah and His Angels send blessings on the Prophet; O you who believe! Send your blessings on him, and salute him with all respect.' (Quran: 33:56)
The Arabic form of the acronym (a single letter in brackets) is shown below.
